I would like to gather information similar to that of a sprint report, but in a more summarized fashion over multiple sprints.  This would give us the ability to focus on sprint planning if it is a reoccurring trend.

My team work in infrastructure, and we do not maintain consistent velocity as a team.  This is because some times we build servers, put down a DB, and update firewall rules in the same sprint, and sometimes we only have DB work.

What I would like to see is a way to look at the past 12 sprints (or so)

  • By Resource
  • Points that we started sprint with
  • Points completed
  • Points added

Sprint reports do provide a lot of this information at a more detailed level.  I want to raise it up a level and be able to do over multiple sprints.  This can help us trend the peaks and valleys, to see if aligns with our obsolesce work.

Hi @Michael Ryan ,

The requirements you outlined cannot be accomplished using native JIRA tools, unfortunately.

What do you mean by resource - an engineer/assignee or a type of work?

You can accomplish your requirements using the app I developed – Multi-team Scrum Metrics & Retrospective.

The view you will get:

You can select multiple sprints to view at once, as well as several teams or boards in the same view. You can aggregate them into months, quarters, half-years, and years, do drill-downs, and even conduct in-place retrospections with the app.

Also, you can get this type of statistics:

Best regards,
Alexey

Thank you very much.  That was a lot of information.  In response to your question:

"What do you mean by resource - an engineer/assignee or a type of work?"

We have DBE resources, Systems Engineering resources, and Security resources... I would like to know if I am keeping Joe (DBE) busy, is he completing regularly, and do we plan and execute well enough each sprint for Joe even if we don't consume his entire capacity.

Hi @Michael Ryan 👋
Welcome to the Community!

If you're looking for a way to analyze sprint performance over multiple sprints and Sprint Report from Time in Status can be a great solution.

How Time in Status Sprint Report Can Help:

Multi-Sprint Analysis – View trends over the past 6 sprints (or more) to identify peaks and valleys in workload.
Summarized Sprint Metrics – Get aggregated insights on:

  • Points at Sprint Start
  • Points Completed
  • Points Added Mid-Sprint

Historical Data Tracking – Helps correlate trends with infrastructure-related obsolescence work.

You can also book a live session to ask any questions about the add-on.

Add-on developed by my team.

I hope you find this helpful 🚀

Hi @Michael Ryan,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Unfortunately native tools does not provide such reporting capabilities.

A potential solution would be to search on Atlassian Marketplace for an app that provides such reports.

In case you want to try an app, our Great Gadgets app offers some gadgets that could be useful for you. For example, by using its Team Velocity gadget you can get the velocity for past sprints (unlimited number). Beside the chart you will get also a Data tab which can be exported in CSV for addition processing.

This chart & its report shows Initial commitment, Final Commitment, Completed, Added, Scope Change, etc...

In addition, this app offers a Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget that will allow you to display all kind of multi-field stats in form of table, heat-map table or charts of various types, just like pivot tables in Excel. You could use this gadget to display the completed points per assignee and resource type.

Hope this helps.
