In the last couple of months we have had a few instances of JIRA tickets being updated with start date/end date changes by users who swear blind that they did not make those changes
None of the examples seem to be in tickets that are linked to another ticket, so it doesn't appear to be an automation of any sort (well, not on the face of it)
And it's not always the same person who appears to have made the changes
If you have ScriptRunner installed, check the Escalation Services. I'd also check any Service Desk project Automation sections as well, as linkage to another ticket is not a requirement.
