Start/End dates of a lot tickets were massively updated by my account from nowhere

Tongyu Chen May 3, 2019

This issue has happened at least 3 times on my account, and once on my colleague's account.

Many tickets' start/end dates were massively updated by my account at the same second, even some of those are already closed. The only thing I did before this happened was refreshing a ticket's page.

From others' view, it looks like my account was hacked and these tickets were updated by bots.

Anyone know this issue and how to fix it? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Tongyu,

I'd expect one of a few different culprits:

  1. Automation/scripts: are there any of these in place that target dates?
  2. Are you using Big Picture/Big Gantt? Ive seen that behavior with the add-on before (Big Gantt will adjust start & due dates-if they’re trying to set due date before start date, or trying to set due date to a weekend date, big Gantt will change the date automatically.).
  3. Any other planning add-ons that touch dates that could be making updates in your name?

Hi Morgan,

Thank you for your reply. I think none of the 3 points applies to my situation as far as I know.

To be more specific, those tickets didn't set "Start/End date" in the first place. All timestamp fields they have are "Created", "Updated" and "Resolved". The "bot-updating" added "Start date" and "End date" fields to these tickets and set them as the time of yesterday (May 2nd).

Before issues behaved the same as above.

Oh wait, I think all those tickets belong to the same BigGantt, but that BigGantt had already completed. Could this be the cause?
