Start Slack conversations from Jira ticket

Deleted user October 2, 2018

Our project has the Slack/Jira integration setup, but I can't seem to figure out how to start a slack thread/channel/conversation from a Jira ticket. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance!

Just following up to note that we've released this feature recently. The app now lets you create issues from the action menu on a message, @mentioning the Jira bot, or using the /jira command in Slack. Check out all the details here.

Hello Jordy,

The default plugin to integrate JIRA and Slack (Slack For JIRA) only give you the ability to send notifications to your Slack Channels, but not to open new channels and conversations on JIRA issues.

If you really need this functionality, I recommend you to use the plugin Slack Jira Integration by Bitband. This add-on provide you a dialog screen on your JIRA issues where you can start new slack conversations:

It's not possible right now, but with the partnership between Atlassian and Slack I wouldn't be surprised if it became a reality in the near future.

It's possible in Jira Ops, where you can create a channel which uses the issue number and there's a two way integration (slack comment to issue, etc)
