I have a team managed kanban board. I recently enabled backlog and now the tickets in the backlog are not auto populating on the board based on the status the ticket is in. I would like it so that if I update a status from "backlog" to "refined" then the ticket should move to the refined column.

In the board configuration I see the number of tickets in that status but they are not showing up on the board. When I manually "move it to the board" it shows as expected but its not a automatic process.

Hi @Latoya Broodie -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

When the backlog is used with a Team-managed project, the work items must be specifically moved to the board from the backlog view.  This is different from a Company-managed project where the status mapping to the board determines when an issue displays on the board.

A workaround for this is to use automation rules to help as there is a special action to move a team-managed project work item to / from the board.

For example, you could have a rule such as:

  • trigger: work item transitioned
    • from your backlog status
    • to any of your status values on the board
  • action: move work item to board
    • select your board
    • select the option "move work item to" as Board

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Latoya Broodie

Welcome to the community!

I would check two things:

1. Your Board filter

2. If all your workflow status are being reflected in the config board - columns screen.

Is it possible to share an image of your config board? May be that might provide more pointers.
