I like Jira forms - they make it simpler for people to contribute issues.
However right now my Jira form always labels the Issues it creates with the name of the form used to create the issue. I don't need this - it just adds noise.
And worse yet it actually creates two labels - I don't know why.
See the screen shot which shows two labels - business-form and business-form-2
Is there a way to turn off this automatic label creation?
Jira Work Management (JWM) Forms automatically add labels based on the form name, which can clutter your issue labels, especially when duplicate labels appear. Unfortunately, JWM Forms don’t offer a built-in way to disable this automatic labeling.
If you're looking for a cleaner solution without automatic labels, you might want to check out Smart Forms for Jira. It’s developed by my team and offers:
✔ No Automatic Labels – Issues created from Smart Forms won’t have form-based labels unless manually set.
✔ Hide the Form Name from the Issue – The form name won’t be displayed in issue details unless you choose to show it.
✔ Customize the Issue Summary – Instead of defaulting to the form name, the issue summary can be mapped to any response field (e.g., request title, description).
✔ Manually Set or Remove Labels – If labels are needed, you can define custom labels instead of form-generated ones.
Hey Mike,
There's a feature request to address this behaviour: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-92173
As a workaround, you can follow one of the two approaches suggested in this feature request.
Thanks,
Karan
