Team managed projects - how to set no default value for Priority field?

Venecia Bachee November 24, 2021

Hi there - I've set all our issue types to have no default value for the Priority field but issues still default to High priority (see screenshot).

Is there a way to implement a no default value for the Priority field with project admin access?

Thanks in advance,

VB

Hello @Venecia Bachee,

Thank you for reaching out to the Atlassian Community!

Testing on my local site, I wasn’t able to replicate the same issue.

Can you please check on the workflow if there is no default value set there?

Select an issue type and click on Edit workflow on the top.

Then click on the Create transition and check if there is a rule to update an issue field.

Another thing that can override this value is automation. Can you please check if there are any rules (Project settings > Automation) that might be updating the priority?

Kind regards,
Angélica

Apologies for the delay reply.

Thanks Angelica - I've checked both:

  • Workflow - no rules to update issue field
  • Automation - no rules to update priority

I will try testing a dummy issue type to test if the behaviour is only happening in previously created issue types. Worst case scenario, I will run a rule to set the default priority to not High.

Thanks for your prompt response!
