Trying to utilize the formatting found on this page: https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/WikiRendererHelpAction.jspa?section=all
It doesn't appear to be working, instead I will see the raw text in an unformatted display. For example [Atlassian|http://atlassian.com] appears as "[Atlassian|http://atlassian.com]"
Hi Ken,
Sorry for not being clear enough on my previous answer. Anyway, you should be able to configure the fields renderer by specifiying the fields behavior.
Here is the documentation that would guide you on this:
Hope it helps.

Sorry to Zombie the post, but I had this issue, and I found out something interesting...
The comment formatting does not work if you have a line break in the text you're formatting - which is to say, you can format a paragraph, or a sentence, but you cannot format multiple lines of text (separated by a line break) together.

This is ridiculous. I can't believe that I'm wasting my time because Clonfluence's wiki can't support markdown paste.

I have been doing Shift+Returns in Jira for 8 years. Now it doesn't work anymore?

Hello,
I use Jira Cloud and I'm facing the same problem as described. I've tried description and comment fields and none of that works. Also, I've checked fields configuration and it seems using Wiki Style Renderer. Any suggestions?

We also have this problem, and the below answers dont help as as we cant find where this is configured for JIRA issue descriptions as an example. If anyone has exact steps, we would be very grateful

In the new UI version, the notation like (/) are scaped with \ so if you switch to the old one and the edit the \(/) just delete the scaping and then works.

So instead of using / I should use \ ?
Because I really have / in my description and it gives me the error of We couldn't save the description as it might be the wrong formatting.
Best,
Natalia

I would like the toolbar in the Description entry / editor to function like the toolbar on this editor; i want WYSIWYG content, not wiki-like tags
SO, when i click the bulleted list, i would get:
* not this

Hi Ken,
Could you please double check if your JIRA renderer set as wiki style renderer. If JIRA already configured to use wiki style renderer, you might want to create a support ticket to get the appropriate support.
Hope it helps.

I don't see where to set this option. I do see that we have the following plugin installed:

Specifically, HOW do we see if the JIRA renderer is set to wiki render for JIRA issue description fields. We cant find this information on the link you sent, although I am sure its their burried deeply. I need to tell our administrator exactly how to do this, as I have no admin access myself.
