Hello,

There is one workflow and a workflow scheme that is shared by 10 projects. I want to add a new status in the workflow and update it. Will this affect the issues of all 10 projects? If so then how? If suppose my workflow is (please the image below) and if I add Failed in between in QA and in UAT, how will it affect the issues of my 10 projects?Capture.PNG

Hi @Priyanka Khare

When You Update workflow   all  projects Are Also Effected Because of all projects also Same include the  Same work Flow .

Do one thing Take a Copy Of Work Flow And You Will Change That Work Flow Attach   That Project That time its not effected of those 10 Projects.

Thanks

Venkatesh

i just did a JQl and found out that there are 1600 issues in total which have been transitioned from In QA to in UAT and if i delete this transition and add a new status in between(fail/blocked) will these 1600 issues be affected?  @PVS

Hi @Priyanka Khare

Yes These Effected All  project and  1600 issues also, Because I am saying Take a Copy Of OLD work Flow And U can any changes in that  Copied work flow and Attach  That Work Flow to New Project .

Copied Work Flow You Can Use And Change Anything  The issues Are Not Effected

Thanks,

Venkatesh

To answer your first question, it will affect ALL projects that are using this workflow. And how it will affect, is all depends on what kind of changes are we doing in the workflow.

Since, you are introducing a new status between 2 existing statuses and not removing any status or transitions, it won't impact any existing issues.

As a best practice, it's always recommended to do this changes on staging environments, if you have one, else create a copy of it and test the changes on it.

Also, make sure to publish the workflow changes, else it won't come into affect and while publishing, JIRA will prompt you for migrations, if required any.

No. They are already transitioned.

As I mentioned, if you are deleting a status then issues of that deleted status need to be migrated to another status. Introducing new status won't affect any existing issues.
