If i commit 5 itmes in a sprint with original effort estimate as 20,10,5,5,10 respectively. Out of which the first item estimated at 20 hrs gets spilled over. Say i have worked for some 15hrs on that item and i still need 20hrs to complete the item (Basically my original estimation was incorrect). Then when i move it to the next sprint with 20hrs added and then if i try to generate a time report of effort variance , it adds up the initial estimated time as well and not the effort that i estimated only for the current sprint.
Only if i get a difference between estimated and logged in each sprint , i would be able to calculate effort varience per sprint.
Is there any way to calculate effort varianc eper sprint ?
We do manually in my team:
Effort variance
Effort Variance represents the comparison of the effort that was planned (Estimated story points) against the actual efforts (achieved story points) with in all iterations contributed towards a release
(Effort Variance = Estimation SPs – Spent SPs)
Is there any report in Jira that will show you this information by user story
