Time tracking - Log work - cannot give 11:45 AM in date started.

Suresh Kumar August 9, 2021

When want to log the time worked in a task, I am opening the time tracking and trying to log the time. Based on the spent time, the date started is adjusted relative to current time. But if I manually want to set the date started time, it is selectable with 30 minutes interval only.

For example, if I want to set the time as 12:15 PM, it is not allowing and I have to choose either 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM. So how I can enter the minutes manually?

From my JIRA admin, I came to know that it is possible with JIRA provided Time Tracking plugin itself.

We can type the time and without fail have to give "Enter". This will take any custom time. If we are not giving enter, it will take nearest 30 mins interval.

Normally in a textbox, we would only type the number and will not give Enter. But here have to give.

Hi @Suresh Kumar ,

I guess it’s related to the JIra  provided Time tracking. More details you may found here: Configure time tracking in Jira . As it’s mentioned there, "Jira Cloud applications support custom time tracking providers, which you can find in the Atlassian Marketplace. Marketplace apps can offer more advanced time tracking functionality in place of the default Jira time tracking features. "

You may try eZee Worklog for JIRA Cloud - it's free and you add it as dashboard, from where you may select the issue and track your time in custom times.

Note: It seems that the Jira logging work time has logic to track your system time, so once you log Time spent, the first point for calculation is your current system Jira time.

I hope this will be useful for you!

Yes, we are using the JIRA provided Time tracking. As JIRA provided Time tracking will not support the manual entry, I will try eZee Worklog

Hi @Suresh Kumar ,

It supports the manual entry but it's based on your Jira system time or you may choose any of the intervals mentioned in your original post.

Hi again @Suresh Kumar ,

I was not able to enter custom start time with hitting "Enter" but I find out that if you press the "X" sign, you can enter custom date and time you need.

Hi @Magdalena Zhisheva ,

Good it works for you. For me, I no need to click the X button. Just start typing the time and press Enter finally.
