Total Number of Issues Open over Time

I'm trying to create a simple graph (bar chart, line chart, I don't care) that displays TOTAL issues with given labels/assignees in the "open" state on the Y axis, and time (in days) on the X axis. Created vs. Resolved Chart is not what I'm looking for, as it only shows what happened on each day, not totals.

I've tried googling this everywhere-- is it really possible JIRA doesn't have a solution for this?

This is still issues created/closed on that day as far as I can tell. I'm looking for "current total issues open and closed per day over time"
