I want to break down a month long major release 1.0.0 to 4 weekly small release 1.1.0>>1.2.0>>1.3.0>>1.0.0. So I want to create a release dashboard which will track all these releases with their weekly due dates. I have a basic JIRA and no advanced plugins. what's the most effective way of doing these, few alternatives are appreciated.
Currently we do a monthly release with a fix version and we are following a scrum ban approach not a typical scrum where we are tracking completion of items as per Due date of the major release and there is no mention of data in the due date field of the individual issues.
Say release due date in release tab is 30.07.2020
so all items/issues are tracked with this date but there is nothing mentioned as a due date for individual issues in JIRA.
Please suggest
Hi @Suman_Boro,
I doubt there are standard ways to achieve what you described above. There is a lightweight App we created to address this. With an App you can package few minor releases into major one an track it on kanban style board with swimlanes. You can do the same on Roadmap view if you want. Check it out - Release Management & Roadmaps for Jira Cloud.
Cheers,
Yuri.
Hi @Suman Boro -- Welcome to the Atlassian community!
To do all of the things you are asking about, you would need one of the marketplace add-ons to enhance version management features. Without buying add-ons, you could...
View the releases on their page to see progress. Look here for more information: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-core-cloud/docs/view-and-manage-a-projects-versions/
Write a filter to include your releases, you could subscribe to the filter for updates. Please see here for more information: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-core-cloud/docs/work-with-search-results/
Best regards,
Bill
