Transition an Epic to previous status

Hi, I am trying to create a Jira Automation that should revert the status of an Epic, when it is transition to Done, to what it was before the transition, if it has any child item (story, task, sub-task) which is not Done or Cancelled. I saw suggestions to use Work Flow but it is very difficult in our setup, so trying to see if ti can be achieved through "Transition Issue" in Automation.

I also have a constraint to not use custom fields. Thank you!

Hi @Thangarajan Marudhachalam and welcome to the Community!

Using the Workflow to achieve that is indeed the best option. You can add conditions to the transition, however there is only a check for subtasks, not for Epic children, i believe.

I've not found a way to access the "old" status of the issue through Smart values and such. There isn't even a proper option in Cloud so wouldn't assume there is one in Server.
