Trying to create issues in the list view grouped by sprint

Francisco October 2, 2024

Hey there!

Im trying to create Jira issues under a sprint in the list view. Before, the sprint was auto populated since I was creating the task with the "+" Button on the right side of the sprint but now the task goes right away to the backlog. Do you know if there was a change with this feature?

Hi @Francisco,

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features - including support for (configurable) issue hierarchiesissue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting - and works across any number of projects.

Plus, if you groupyour issues by their sprint, and inline-create a new issue within such a group, the sprint is automatically set, like so:

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Francisco

Do you mean creating an issue within a sprint from the backlog? If so, you can't create an issue from the backlog view if the sprint is active. You should however, be able to create an issue in an inactive sprint from the backlog view.

If you need to create and add an issue to an active sprint, you will need to create the issue on the backlog, then move the issue into the active sprint and accept the scope change notification you will receive from Jira for the active sprint.

Hope this helps!
