Unable to Associate Custom fields to the Appropriate Screens

I have created a custom field and trying to associate it to a specific Project screen.

I have then selected 'Associate to Screens' option to associate this custom field to the required Jira screen. When I search for the project screen to which i want to associate this field, the screen is not getting listed.

Hello @SMK - welcome to the Community!

Did you set up a context on the custom field to only make it available to a specific project?

Have you tried the inverse - going to the screen you want to add the custom field to first then add the custom field from there?

Thanks much. Greatly appreciate it. 

No I have not set up the context of the custom field to make it available to specific project. I am able to add it to multiple other project screens. Just that this specific screen is not showing up when i search so am unable to add to this one. 

How can i try inverse -  going to the screen you want to add the custom field to first then add the custom field from there?

Hi, I think @Sam Nadarajan said you first check the name of custom field and then go to screen (could it be by Summary of a Project that use this screen) and fill the name of custom field and see if it appears.

Also it's importante to see if in Issue Layout this screen's showing the field and not hidden.

Hello @SMK 

Can you try do these steps first?

  1. Go to Custom Fields and select the field and next screen on the Tab Contexts
  2. Then go on Create, edit or delete contexts.
  3. Check if on Applicable contexts for scheme is set Global (all issues).
  4. If not edit and set to Global Context

After that check if the field is showing on Screen.

If you not able to find the SCREEN that field is configured please create a new screen with the same fields and see if this solve the problem.

Hi Victor,

Thanks much greatly appreciate it. I have checked above. the field is set to Global Context.

Unfortunately i cannot create a new screen, as this field is required for this specific screen.

When I search for the project screen, all other screens are listing but this specific screen and (a handful others ) are not listing. Is it something to do with the screen configuration?

It's strange @SMK if you are a Site-admin you shouldn't have issues to see all the screens.

What you can do is go to the Screen Scheme that screen exists and select the screen and check if the custom field is there.

Yes its strange. I can see all the screens except a few (including the one I want to add the field to). However I have now tried inverse, going from the screen and adding the field. This works ok. Many thanks for all your help.
