Hi there,

I'm unable to add a transition by editing a workflow in a company managed project. It is throwing a validation error as;

You cannot perform this operation on a draft workflow. More Information.
I'd clicked on edit button and I'm able to add conditions / validations to an existing transition within a w/f but unable to add a new one.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

You can copy the active workflow, edit the new inactive workflow. And then assign the new workflow to exist issue types.

Limitations when editing an active workflow

Please note that the following limitations apply when editing an active workflow (i.e. a draft workflow):

It is not possible to edit the workflow name (only the description) if a workflow is active.
Workflow steps cannot be deleted.
A step's associated Status cannot be edited.
If a step has no outgoing transitions (Global transitions are not considered), it cannot have any new outgoing transitions added.
A step's Step ID cannot be changed.

You can try the following steps.

  • copy the active workflow

workflow-1.jpg

  • edit the new inactive workflow

workflow-2.jpg

  • edit workflow schemes

workflow-3.jpg

  • add existing workflow

workflow-4.jpg

workflow-5.jpg

then choose the issue type.

And do not forget to publish the new workflow schemes.
