Unable to attach xml files to JIRA ticket.. any ideas on why this is happening?

Amanda Hollidge February 2, 2018

I am trying to attach a xml file to my JIRA ticket. I have all the right permissions, I can import other files, drag and drop etc just isn't allowing xml files.

Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I had been told it could be an issue with the proxy..?

Thanks!

Dear @Ankit Patel,

you are right with the attachment size.

@Amanda Hollidge, you are also right. If there is a proxy in front of, this has also a POST limit. Even if Jira would accept 100Mb and the proxy only 10Mb, larger files will not pass.

Which proxy do you use?

So long

Thomas

Thank you for your response, Thomas. Hopefully it is a nice easy fix! I am just waiting to find out what proxy we use.. I just handle JIRA/Confluence.

Thanks.

Hi Amanda,

Did you check, the attachments size? by default the size limit is 10mb,

Please see this page for details on how to increase the size.

Also, can you share screenshot of the error?

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

The error message we are getting is

File "***" was not uploaded. An internal error has occurred. Please contact your administrator.

I will try and find out the file size, if that is possible issue I will try to increase the size.

We have tried to upload a 686kb xml file and it is failing. But the attachment size setting is 10MB.

You'll need to read the log file for more detail.  Note a date and time for when you try a failed upload and then read <jira-home>/logs/atlassian-jira.log
