Unable to change the status of subtask.

I am unable to change the status of the subtask. I can only change the status when I move the subtask back to an issue. 
Is there a way to change the workflow or do something, to be able to change the status without the need of moving the subtask back to an issue?

Hi @Tamanna

Worth checking your sub-tasks' transition properties (conditions, validators, etc) to ensure there is not anything stopping you from transitioning sub-tasks.

For example, if to move an issue to 'Closed' you had to be the assignee, you would not be given an option to close the sub-task unless you were assigned.

This more complex workflow might need Site Admin access to review like this. With this access:

• Go to Jira Administration > Issues > Workflows
• Select your Workflow (I prefer Diagram view for this)
• Click a transition you're trying to make - this is the arrow between two statuses
• Click on Conditions or Validators from the pop-up which appears and look for anything which could limit the use of transitions - such as Conditions like Only Assignee, Only Reporter, User Is In Project Role, etc.

^ You can also edit the workflow from these screens if there is another issue - for example, if there were no transitions out of the first status then it would be impossible to transition an issue!

Let us know if this doesn't rectify your issues.

Hello,

Go to project settings -> workflows and find the workflow, which you use for the sub task issue type. Then modify this workflow to your needs.
