I'm using the JIRA mobile app for iOS frequently and my main use case is to comment on tickets when I'm on the go.
Since a few weeks, I'm getting a "Ask your admin for permission to view this" if I open any JIRA Software ticket and I'm unable to add a comment for the ticket. I'm able to modify virtually every aspect of the ticket, but commenting doesn't work.
What's especially weird is the fact, that I'm able to comment to tickets directly on a notification, which means an iOS notification pops up that a ticket was changed and I can add a comment inline in this notification. But not via the normal ticket screen inside the app. I can of course use the browser web interface, which works normally.
Another fact is that I AM the admin, so I have all permissions which are possible.
Is this a known issue for JIRA Cloud + JIRA Mobile app? Any suggestions what I can try to solve this problem?
Dominik,
I am the iOS Team Lead. We already pushed a new build which has this fix.
Can you please update and if this is still happening then we will take a look.
Thanks!
I’m actually having a very similar issue. I noticed ghat after switching screens a few times the “Type a comment” box shows up. But initially when I navigate to a ticket without prior comments the “Type a comment” box is hidden and I’m unable to add a new comment.

Hello Dominik,
Testing from my side, I'm able to comment on any issues while using the mobile application.
That being said, Please provide us the details below so we can better understand your issue:
- Is this problem happening for all the issues in your JIRA site?
- Are you able to comment on the same issue using the browser App that you are not able to comment using the mobile?
- Is the issue added to any security level?
- What is your mobile version? Have you already tried to re-install the application?

Hi Petterson,
> Is this problem happening for all the issues in your JIRA site?
yes
> Are you able to comment on the same issue using the browser App that you are not able to comment using the mobile?
yes, the problem is only with the mobile app
> Is the issue added to any security level?
No, all issues are affected in any project of the JIRA instance
> What is your mobile version? Have you already tried to re-install the application?
The latest from the iOS App Store. I just reinstalled and the problem still persists.
It may be worth pointing out, that this used to work and after a recent update in the app store this seems to be broken :(
