We would like to merge two of our Org ID's, for I was trying to do the data copying as a first step and getting an error that one of the projects is already available on the destination org, while checking we cannot see any duplicates.

Can we get support on this, we don't want to delete the project without getting a copy.

Hello @Nidheesh K

I don't know if you found a solution already, but I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync to clone a project from one instance to another. The app allows you to clone (and sync if needed) issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc) across different projects and instances.

Don’t hesitate to check our documentation.

The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).

Hi @Nidheesh K and welcome to the community!

To simplify the process of copying or migrating projects between organizations, you can try our app Deep Clone for Jira. Deep Clone provides robust tools for cloning projects, issues, and configurations with precision, allowing you to avoid issues with duplicate project keys and names during migration. You can read more on how to clone projects across instances here.

Hi @Luka Hummel - codefortynine

Does deep clone project between 2 jira instances?

As is the case in this request.

Hi @Marc - Devoteam

Deep Clone indeed can clone projects (and issues) between 2 Jira instances. You only need to connect each target and source instance once. You can read more on that feature here.

Hi @Nidheesh K

Welcome to the community.

As you are running on a free tier instance, no support will be delivered (mentioned in documentation).

Is there no project in archive or trash?

You have probably re-named a project key somewhere in the past, 3 of the last project keys are retained on the history.

Re-name the project key that is mentioned as duplicate several times and try it again, otherwise the only option is to export the projects issues and delete the project.

Create a new project and import the issues and then try copying the data again.

Thanks for the reply Marc, I would like to get steps on renaming the existing project key to avoid deletion and all over new creation.

Hi @Nidheesh K

Go to your project, select the project settings option and in the details section, you can change the project name and key
