Unassigned avatar not visible in backlog

I've recently migrated from a team-managed site to a company managed site and everything is a bit wonky looking now.

On the backlog, in the team-managed site an issue would have an icon for unassigned which we could then quickly click and assign a team member, like so:

However, now there is no icon. It only appears for issues that have assignees.

How can I get the icon to appear? I've tried adding Assignee to the Card Layout in the settings of the board, but all that does is put the word "unassigned at the bottom of the "card".

Hi @Ashley Godbold what did you do in the end?

I'm curious to know what "Unassigned" would not be acceptable for you. Would you like to have the grey empty avatar?

Hi @Ashley Godbold -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I do not believe you can do that.  This is a UI difference between the Company-managed and Team-managed project views.  I checked and did not find any open suggestions to add this feature in the public backlog.
