Updated from 6.4 to 7.0.X and got errors.

Hiren Patel April 25, 2018

The following licenses are too old to install this version of JIRA (7.0.11): JIRA Service Desk. The licenses for this instance only grant access to versions of JIRA created before 17/Apr/15 8:00 AM.

I moved from an older machine to a new machine.  The new machine has a license that is valid until April 2019.   It seems like the move from the old database to the new machine is still looking at an old license.  How do I get rid of this so I can upgrade - would eventually like to get to 7.9.1 version

Hi @Hiren Patel

From what i mostly guess, in your JIRA instance of 6.x you have JIRA + JIRA Agile + JIRA Service desk plugin.

And is that your jira software/agile license is valid till April 2019? Could you re-check whether you also have the Jira service desk license valid till date?

Sorry for the delay Fazila - I was out for a few days.

The jira service desk license is valid until April 2019 as well.  And yes, I have Jira + Jira Service desk.

I ported the database from an older machine that had an older license (which expired in 2015).

When I run 6.4 - it accepts the new (current) license for Apr 2019.   When I upgrade to 7.0.1 (the first step to get to 7.9.X), I get through the upgrade and then when it ports the db from 6.4 to 7.0.1 - I get the error that my license expired in 2015.   Somehow, it sees the license from my first port (from one machine to a new machine), and ignores my latest license.

Add:  I noticed that Jira Agile has expired.  there is not a direct way to renew without contacting a Customer Advocate - so I will try that first.

Thanks,

Hiren
