Hi guys,

We have been running the self-hosted JIRA version for a few years now, but we are looking into several options, so your help would be appreciated.

  1. Our JIRA DB is running on SQL Server 2012 R2 at the moment, and we are looking into upgrading to SQL Server 2016. Are there any known incompatibility issues between JIRA 7.5.0 and SQL Server 2016 or is it ok for us to upgrade?

  2. We are investigating the possibility to move to JIRA Cloud, therefore I would like to discuss with someone in more detail the following aspects:
    1. What would be the process to migrate our existing history, users, data, configuration, etc to the cloud version so that we have a seamless transition?
    2. We currently have less than 10 users. Could you please let me know the ongoing annual costs of running the Cloud version for 10 users with JIRA and Confluence?
    3. Could you let me know if it's possible to add JIRA Helpdesk (or similar product) but assigning only a bunch of licenses to Helpdesk users if only 2-3 users need such access? If this is possible, what would the annual cost of JIRA Helpdesk be for 2-3 users?

A detailed answer to the above will be appreciated ;)

Have a good weekend!

Gonzalo

Hi Gonzalo,

I don't have the answer for your first question, but I believe I can give some answers for number 2:

  • Migrate to Cloud: Mainly, you have to create a backup of your whole Jira Server instance that you will then restore to a Jira Cloud site. Have a look at the documentation article below for more details:
Migrating from Jira Server to Jira Cloud
  • A 10-users license for both Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud is $20 per month ($10 for each), with monthly billing. If you opt for annual billing, it's $200 per year ($100 for each): Atlassian Cloud licensing
  • Jira Service Desk is priced per Service Desk agent. A service desk agent is counter separately from your Jira users and not all Jira or Confluence users need to be service desk agents. Also, the license cost for Jira Service desk for 1-3 agents is an additional $10 per month or $100 per year: Jira service desk pricing
