Upgrading JIRA Software from 8.2.2 to to Latest version

We are currently reaching the End of life for our current version of JIRA Software which is 8.2.2. and wanted to upgrade to the most recent version of JIRA which is 8.14. I tried to do this in our test environment but had to roll back in a snap due to many error that were received. I followed this upgrade guide listed here, but received but was not able to get this completed. I was wondering since our version is a lot older would it require the upgrade of a more recent version in between before upgrading to the current and latest version of JIRA to help with some of the errors before I can upgrade to 8.14.X?

SO I have upgraded the server to version .15 from 8.2.2 and the windows installer didn't install the Atlassian Service. Ss I used this guide to get the service installed. However, for some reason the service will not start. I get this error below:  

The Event Logs show:

Any Suggestions, the service in our prod environment just uses the local system to run the service so there was no need to specify a account to run the service.

Another question, is this document up to date in regards to upgrading the JIRA server version (not cloud)?

Yes, that's the one I'd use.  (Although I'd also disable the automatic backup and do my own)

Understood. I will try again with the upgrade later this week and supply the errors I obtained when trying.

There shouldn't be any need to go through a mid-step here, you should be able to jump directly from 8.0 to 8.14, and from any version of 8 and lower (in fact, I've seen 7.12 go straight to 8.14 without any hitch)

I think we'll need to dig into the errors you ran into a bit more.
