My team wants to upgrade from Jira on-prem version 8.20.2 to the latest version. I see version 9.4 is the latest version with long term support. I'm assuming this would be the best option for us.
Does this mean that version 9.9 will not have any product support for bug and security fixes? Could you provide a pros/cons or differences for this?
Also, Are we able to upgrade directly from 8.20.2 to 9.4 or 9.9? Or do we have to upgrade version in increments ?
Please advise.
Hi @Deen_ Aamir
LTS versions get backports for 2 years for
https://confluence.atlassian.com/enterprise/long-term-support-releases-948227420.html
Bugs reported (especially security related) will also be be worked on for non-LTS versions. It might make sense to keep an eye on https://confluence.atlassian.com/support/atlassian-support-end-of-life-policy-201851003.html.
https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/upgrade-matrix-966063322.html provides insights into compatible versions. In addition you can also directly check within Jira : Jira administration > Applications > Plan your upgrade
Hope that helps
Kurt
