Has anyone tried to use JIRA for the tracking of a sales pipeline using custom created fields with a workflow supporting the status changes.
Ofcourse there are CRM-like apps for that, but if the requirements are really basic, a KISS approach on the JIRA platform might do the trick if you already run everything else on JIRA.
Any experiences or recommendations out there?

Yes, I think it is entirely possible to track the sales pipeline using JIRA custom workflow.
Our company has never used JIRA for that but we were investigating how to allow people outside of the development teams to use JIRA easily and efficiently for managing their tasks and a presentation from atlassian summit cought our eye.
