I am struggeling with a problem at a big customer of mine:
They use Jira & Confluence on a large scale. (The system is connected to an ADS via LDAP).
Now they have a very large amount of inactive users. As far as I learned from previous tasks, it is not a good idea to delete these accounts.
When users leave the company, their accounts are deleted from LDAP and they get "inactive" within the Atlassian tools - but you still see their names (and foto!) in the tools. Some users have requested that their data shall be purged (picture and name details removed).
What is the way the Atlassian tools support this anonymization (for example remove all personal data including the picture) and replance it by ther "anonymous" user account name like "UAC4711"?
Please don't tell me that there is no way because - then the Atlassian tools have a very great problem - at least within the European Union as there is something called "right to be forgotten".
With thousands of inactive users I don't see a way to do change the account data (and remove fotos!) manually. And just to make this clear: As for today there are already users who whant their data to be cleaned up - if we don't perform this, it is in direct violation of European (and therefore german) law...
What is the way to do anonymization within the Atlassian tools?
Best regards
Carsten
Hi @Sirion James Bond,
We noticed that several users have been requesting a "Bulk User Anonymizer" feature. I’m excited to share that our app, UDC (User Data Cleanup for Jira), includes this functionality and can help you easily anonymize multiple users at once.
Key features of this app include:
Highly customizable and modular: Configure multiple cleanup rules that can be applied to a single or bulk of users. Maximize control over user-specific data cleansing.
Two-Stage Cleanup: Leaving Day & Permanent: Apply a two-stage cleanup process: deactivate, remove, or transfer specific user data on the leaving day, retain necessary information for traceability, and execute a permanent cleanup.
Preview & Retrospect: Cleanup Control: Before performing cleanup actions for single or multiple users, use the Preview to check all planned actions. Use the Retrospect to check previously cleaned data for specific users.
We believe UDC can save you time and effort, and we’d love for you to give it a try. You can find more details and download our app here.
