I run a Canada job portal, and I'm exploring if Jira can be adapted to manage job listings and incoming applications — more for internal team tracking than public use.
Has anyone used Atlassian tools this way? I’m thinking of using custom fields, statuses, and automation to move candidates through review stages. Curious if it's scalable or better to stick with a CRM.

Hello Luna,
Yes, you can use Jira in this way. Essentially, you can adjust Jira to your needs — it doesn’t impose any strict limitations. In this case, I would recommend using Jira Service Management with Assets (either the Data Center version or the Premium plan).
Here’s my idea:
- You (as an agent) should maintain a list of job listings in Assets.
- Use a workflow with statuses as you described (covering all stages, etc.).
- You can change the status of applications automatically (using REST API or Automation Rules) or manually.
- Applications should be submitted as requests via the Jira Service Management portal. You can select Assets objects in custom fields and provide all the necessary details using additional custom fields.
In this setup, you only need licenses for agents — meaning, for the people who handle requests and manage Assets (i.e., Job Listings).

Hi @Luna Harper ,
Jira is a fantastic tool—but it's originally built by developers, for developers. If you’re not highly technical or don’t want to spend a lot of time and money customizing it into something it wasn’t designed for, like a CRM, it might not be the best path.
Fortunately, there are purpose-built solutions like Crmble for Jira that offer exactly what you're likely looking for—out of the box. With Crmble, you’ll get a structured database of Companies, Contacts, and Deals, plus CRM-specific reports, and even the ability to manage email and WhatsApp conversations directly from within Jira.
It’s a ready-to-use solution that saves you time, money, and technical headaches. Let me know if you’d like to see how it works in action!
Thanks,
Toni
