Hey Guys,
Recently have been looking at adding initiatives into the workflow of a few projects in our organisation. Was able to do so and add the issue type etc.
The main problem that I am faced with currently is that when creating different issue types (i.e. Epic, Bug, Story, Testing) we would like to include an "initiative link" field (a parent link). This field functions completely fine when creating an Epic, and allows initiatives to be selected without issue. When creating a Bug, Story or Testing issue type however, the "initiative link" field returns no entries and does not let me select any initiatives.
My question around this is whether or not this is possible to achieve for all the issue types mentioned? Or is it an issue with maybe initiatives sitting too high up in the hierarchy and only being able to be connected to epics. Which in turn can be connected to lower level issue types
Cheers
Hi,
What kind of custom field is your "initiative link" ?
Are you using Jira Portfolio ?
It looks like it is a Jira Portfolio field,
Whitin Portfolio, an issue hierarchy is defined (Here : Initiative => Epic => US=> Sub tasks) and you will not be allowed to link an US to an Initiative
Hope it help,
Cheers,
Mathieu
Hey,
The initiative link is a "Parent Link" type field. We are not using Jira Portfolio, but it is possible the initiative type stems from that?
I have tried to go into portfolio to change the hierarchy levels but i don't believe we have a license so have no access past just a basic couple of tabs
Cheers

Also wondering why I can't query off the initiative parent link relationship. Is this ever being release to Cloud? Super frustrating because I can see the field and I know the data is there but it won't let me use it to create the view I need.

I am also enable to link any parent to normal task/bug. It's possible only with Epic in JIRA Cloud.
