Walking through a tree of Epic/Feature/Story/Subtask dependencies with Jira Server

Hi, 

We are looking at ways of visualising the complex linkage between different ticket types in Jira and and showing hierarchy and dependencies.  Four solutions are being considered:  

(i) Visio using VBA or C#.

(ii) A graphics library in R.

(iii) An off-the-shelf plugin.

(iv) C# WPF graphics .

 So the question is, what are other people using and what are the shortcomings of their solutions?
