Hello @Ayşegül Yavuztürk ,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

I understand that you are unable to log time using the field in the right sidebar. I suspect the issue to be caused due to an ongoing incident with the Time tracking with 3rd party apps. Please find their statuspage for the progress here:

In case you are not using the 3rd party app for time tracking and facing the issue, you can reach out to Atlassian Support here: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/

Thank you,
Swathi

Hi, @Ayşegül Yavuztürk! 👋

If you're unable to enter time for tasks, it's often due to a hidden or missing “Log work” menu item. This can sometimes happen when third-party time tracking apps override or hide the native Jira work logging interface.

Here are a few steps to try:

  1. Check for Installed Time Tracking Apps: If your Jira instance has third-party time tracking apps installed, try temporarily disabling them to see if the Log work option reappears.

  2. Permissions Check: Ensure that you have the Work On Issues permission for the project — without it, the Log work option won’t show up.

  3. Issue Screen Configuration: Confirm that the Time tracking field is present on the screen used by your issue type.

As an alternative, you can try JetTime, a privacy-first time tracking app built on Atlassian Forge. JetTime ensures the Log work menu is always available and integrates seamlessly with native Jira time tracking, so you won’t run into this issue. Plus, it offers timers, custom fields, powerful reporting, and more — all while respecting your data privacy.

Hi @Ayşegül Yavuztürk ,

Try to check if time tracking is enabled.  Go to Jira Settings → Work items → Time Tracking and ensure that it is correctly set for your instance. Also, you can check the users' permissions.

If a Time tracking field is not working in your project, you can go to Project Settings → Work items → Fields and make sure this field is added.

In case you're looking for a more advanced time tracking tool, you can explore Time & Cost Tracker for Jira app from my team. It allows you and your team to log time easily, view timesheets grouped by user, project, or date and export time reports quickly.

Hey @Ayşegül Yavuztürk ,

Are you referring to estimation (Original and Remaining Estimate) or logging time (Time Tracking)?

Those fields have to be available on your tasks to make use of this functionality.

For Team-Managed projects, head to the "Work types" section in your project settings. For Company-Managed projects, head to the "Screens" section. Both ways, make your updates for your "Task" type accordingly.

Regards,
Thorsten

@Thorsten Letschert _Decadis AG_ I'm talking about logging time. Normally it was in the right corner for each task. Now it is not appearing.

If nothing has been changed configuration-wise, please check whether you might have unpinned the "Time Tracking" field by accident:
