Its been 1 week since we migrate to aws. jira performance was slow and JVM memory was at 1% free. we had to reboot the srever. What could cause this? what can be done for future?

Performance issues are always complicated to track, I suggest you start with the following documentation:

 

Check the Jira logs to understand what may be consuming the memory.
