What are the pros and cons of changing Indexing Language to Other?

This page says:

"You can make Jira Cloud find issues based on the presence of these reserved words by changing the Indexing Language to Other (under Administration > System > General Configuration)."

What effect does this have on the system? Does it affect overall performance? Search performance? Search results?
