What could be the issue if Jira automatically formats my comments?

Mark Orcena August 9, 2023

Hi,

I am wondering how to disable the automatic format on Jira?

The situation that I have is I am not able to:

  • Format my own comments into something readable such as, double line breaks to prevent clutter or paragraphs being too close to each other. I believe I might have set this unintentionally and I don't know how to get it back to default.
  • I am using MacBook pro
  • Other interactions consist Jira automatically dropping image thumbnails instead of the entire image itself that can be resized within the comment.

Does anyone have an idea what is happening?

Thanks.

Hello, Good day. I would like to know if you have tried clear formatting as given in this link. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/markdown-and-keyboard-shortcuts/ ?

The command ⌘ + \ as clear formatting doesn't seem to affect my actual comment formats as it still displays differently than when I have started using JIRA.

With this, let me describe the my comment section's current behavior:

When a word needs to be bold.

  • It does not do this: bold but become like this: *bold*
  • bullet numbering 1, 2 ,3 ... does not display as numbers but with #
  • image pasted inside the comment does not display the entire image but with !image.png|thumbnail!

I want to re enable the formatting right on the comment and not after I have sent it.

Could you identify my issue with these descriptions?

Are there any updates on this?

Hi I have found the setting. I might have ignored the 2 bottom tabs "Visual" and "Text" on the comment section. The problem was I accidentally clicked the Text tab.
