What impact to history tab in past & current issues if I rename existing status in story workflow

We have some status in our story workflow that are not required, I am planning on renaming one of the status to make the flow more clear (and useful)

There are existing stories that have been through that status in the past and the history / audit trail it will show *This story updated to *this status on *date & time

If I rename status & re-index, will that audit trail be impacted?

Renaming the status will not have any affect on the history of past and current issues, the change will only affect issues going forward. The same thing applies if your for example change values in a custom select field.
