In Jira you have screens and they can be attached to the issues in different ways.
Create,edit and view is referenced to which operation you are doing on the issue.
- Create Screen - Is the screen with a set of defined fields you get shown when you click on create issue.
- Edit Screen - Is the screen where you get presented with a set of fields when you click Edit issue.
- View Screen - Defines the set of custom fields that you get presented when you a viewing a issue in the issue view. This will show the defined of custom field that you have defined and a set of system fields that will show per default, such as assignee, issue type etc.
The relation between the operation/action and screen can be set in the screen scheme that is connected to a project or multiple projects.
You can use the same screen for all three operations (create, edit and view) if you want them to display the same fields. If you want that you usually just set the default screen in the screen scheme and don't define any other operations.
In addition to above you can also configure screen to show when transitioning a issue through a workflow.
