What is the fundamental difference between Product Roadmap and Plan View in Jira

Can a plan view in Jira replace the product roadmap?

The answer may depend on the version of Jira Cloud you are using (Free, Standard, Premium, or Enterprise).

I like to think of the Plan view as a feature of the Roadmap feature.  But in some versions of Jira, you may only have the Plan view (and not the Roadmap feature).

The answer is also complicated because it's a moving target. These features are evolving as Atlassian tries to find the best way to meet customer needs across the various platforms.
