What's the JQL to search for Epics without Parent Links?

I'm looking for the JQL to find Epics without parent Initiatives.  I have tried:

issuetype = Epic AND "Parent Link" is EMPTY

and

issuetype = Epic AND "Parent Link" is NULL

Both return no results (when there should be!)

Russell, the "parent Link" IS EMPTY is supported in Portfolio 2.4+ for JIRA Server.

It doesn't look like it's available yet in Cloud.

I guess I will have to build the report manually until the Cloud functionality catches up.

It appears you can use "Parent Link" is EMPTY (in the latest Jira Cloud at least).

Thanks @Mike Alexander unfortunately it does also return issues where it's not...weirdly.
