When creating a defect, how to automatically set it to another status, but not Valued status

When creating a defect, it will automatically set to valued status, but we hope it to be pre-sprint backlog.

Hi @elaine.xu -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The default behavior when creating a new issue (like a bug/defect) is to put it into whatever your "not started" status is.  For example, Backlog or To Do.

Something else is already changing the status to Valued on create, so consider investigating what is making that transition and then update it there.

Define a rule at project level, at creation step for issuetype = defect, assign status = pre-sprint
