In case of above
I want to change the status of the parent epic when the bug is finished.
However, if you create a rule like the screenshot, the rule just passes without any update.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to create a rule such that when child Bug is marked as completed, the associated parent "Epic" transitions into the "Done" status as well.
Trigger: When Issue Transitioned
Branch: For Epic (parent)
Condition: If the Epic status is not Done already, then
Action: Transition Epic to the required status

The automation template library has kind of the default rule setup for this action.
See the rule: "When all stories are completed → then close epic"
I you want the action only for the Epic, you can adjust the rule to your needs

But the change of the sub-issue that fires the trigger is successful (comment added)

Can you have a look at the workflow used by the Epic.
If there is a transition screen on the transition you want to execute by the automation, the transition looks successfull, but won't trigger.
