There is a flaw in the reporting in Jira, in my opinion.

It is right that sub-tasks are not sprint items, they are only "in a sprint" because the issue of which they are a part are in a sprint.  But they do not inherit their sprint from their parent in Jira, so we can't search or report on the, being in there.

So, unless you want to automate something that copies the sprint information from the parent issue into another field, you can't do this with JQL.

But this issue is occurring only in team-managed projects. I don't face the issue in company-managed projects.

Yep, this was fixed for CMPs a while ago.

Yes, and...here are a couple of open defects for that symptom for team-managed projects.  You may watch/vote for them to see progress:

I tried finding a solution, but will have to agree with the other answers here.  Even when I search using the Sprint ID. . . it only returns the Stories. . . even though my subtasks have the Sprint Field filled in.  Upgrade to a company managed project??

Hi @Bluebinaries-DigitalMobility and welcome to the Community!

Could you be more specific in what you are trying to achieve?

  • Where are you trying to create your filter? As a quick filter on a board? In the issue navigator? ...?
  • Can you share the filter you created?
  • Can you explain in more detail what the expected result should look like?

1. We are creating a sub-task filter in our team-managed project using sprint value

2. project = DTD AND issuetype = Subtask AND Sprint = 4 order by created DESC please find the filter JQL

3. For the above filter JQL we are expecting the filter result for the Sprint-4 sub-tasks
