Whenever I try to create an epic it tires to create a task instead ?

Screen Shot 2015-06-18 at 7.35.32 PM.pngI am following the guideline, I clicked Agile went to my board clicked backlog on the left hand toolbar it says Epic "Create an epic" but when I click on it , it tries to create a Task instead. Please Advice.

Task is probably the default issue type in the Issue Type Scheme for this project.

Or maybe the Epic issue is missing all together as Nic suggests.

Have you tried changing the issue type to Epic?  If it's not on the list, then you need to check that the project issue type scheme contains Epics (and add them if not)
