Where do we store the color schemes in Jira Studio

Deleted user September 11, 2011

Hi,

with the August 2011 update on Jira Studio, we lost our color scheme and custom logo and were thrown to the defualt schemes. when contacted support, I was told that they don't keep a backup of these settings.

My doubt is, If I'm able to change my color scheme from UI, shouldn't this be stored in the DB?

I Nikhil,

Would you provide us the link for your support case or open a new one again?

This information should indeed be in the database, maybe it worths a double-check.

Thanks Nikhil!

I've sent an email to CJ - the engineer that handled the issue - to check if we have a better explanation, ok?

I assume we wont have a way to restore your previous configuration- but that's understandable right? Actually, I'm understanding the issue itself is fixed, but we just need to understand what happened.

We'll keep you updated!

Thanks Luzia! :)

In fact, the issue is not fixed for us, since we are still on the default UI. I assume, if we can get these settings in the database, it can restored.

I had asked CJ to close the ticket since I thought he couldn't help me further on this. If you can get the settings from the DB, we can probably restore them.

Looking forward to your update on this.

Hi Nkhil,

I have updates \o/

The answer is 'yes, it's saved at the database'.

Now, as we overwrite backups with newest ones, we don't have a backup with the data we'd need to recover the color scheme. Would you have it?

If we could find an old xml backup of your jira instance, we would be able to recover the color scheme. I'm still going to search around in our issues, BUT, maybe if you have it...it will be faster.

Hi Luzia,

Thanks for the pain that you are taking for this. Really appreciate it.

So, our UI got screwed because one of the support engineers didn't have the knowledge where color schemes are stored. This is BAD. Sorry for the language that I used but I couldn't think of any other way of expressing the disappointment.

I don't have a database backup. In fact, we never asked for an offline backup. :(

Our feeling was that it'll be taken care with the SaaS application. But, now I have a feeling we should have a strategy for that as well.

How many days of backups do we keep with Jira Studio? Any other ways to get hold of the old settings?
