Why are parent tasks in a sprint no longer separate?

VICTUS September 3, 2023

Previously, my tasks and subtasks in a sprint were clearly separated, but now it has turned into one big pile. How can I fix this?

Hello @VICTUS

Are you saying that your view of the specific board you shared has changed? Or are you comparing the view of this board to other boards?

It appears to me that the information is displaying as it normally should when you are choosing to show subtasks on your board, and have Swimlanes set to None.

When you choose to show subtasks on your board, each subtask will show as a card. Above the subtask will show a header with the ID and Summary of the parent task if the parent task is in a different status. The parent task will show as a card in the column that matches its status.

If you had your Swimlanes set to Stories then the parent task would appear as just a header and its subtasks would appear in a horizontal group below it. Each task would be a new horizontal group.

Can you describe how this is different than what you previously saw?

Have you changed the Swimlanes setting for your board?

Thanks for your description! Indeed, I need to do it as described in the second option, but I don’t know how.

If you are an Administrator for the board you can click the ... button in the upper right corner above the board and select Board Settings. In the next screen select Swimlanes. That will give you the option to specify what you want to use for Swimlanes.
