Why can't I change the actual start and actual end dates for an issue?

I want to show the actual start and actual end dates for issues, but Jira is not letting me save the changes. After entering a value, it disappears/removed on moving to another field to update.

The actual start and actual end fields are Date Time Picker fields, which means they need both date and time values. So, make sure you enter both of them, because if you enter only one, it disappears just like you mentioned.
