Why can't I use CHANGED on the Rank field?

I want to be able to search for backlog items which were ranked lower or higher during the last sprint. There is a great operator to look for items with a changed value, except that this will not work on the Rank field. Why is this? I can clearly see in the activity detail view that an item was ranked differently. But then, why is it impossible to search for these kind of items in the Issue navigator?

It is only supported for native fields i.e  can be used with the Assignee, Fix Version, Priority, Reporter, Resolution, and Status fields only.
