Why does an issue report in more than one completed sprint?

When a sprint is closed and issues roll into the next sprint or to the top of the backlog, they are still associated to the completed sprint. The sprint name is listed in the Sprint field. Seems like an issue can only be completed or counted in the sprint the issue was closed in. If the Sprint field cannot be modified, how do we determine which sprint the issue was closed in? also how to not include this issue when searching from issues completed in the 1st sprint?

The last sprint name that shows up is the one in which the issue was closed. You can just specifu sprint in ( 1 ) and it will only show all issues completed of sprint 1 only

So in a search how would I tell the engine only show the item if it matches the last item in the sprint list?
