Why does an old, deleted project keep showing up in 'recent'? How do I make it go away?

In the side-bar, when I click in the applications icon, I see an old project under "Recent":

This project was deleted many months ago, and I'd like it to go away.  It no longer appears under projects, so it seems to be completely deleted.

How do I remove it?

Let me step in as well, This is a Bug we are tracking here:

At this time there is no known workaround, but please add yourself as a watcher on the bug to get updates on the fix.

Hello Roman and welcome to the Community!

This is rather odd that a delete project is still showing within your recent items. Typically when you delete a project it is a two-step process, as follows:

1. Go to your project and click Project settings.
2. Select Delete project from the sidebar.

Your project should be removed completely after that.

I just retested delete a project from a Jira cloud instance and confirmed it cleared out of recent when deleted.

Let's confirm if the project is actually deleted or not. Please follow these steps and let us know if the project is still listed.

1.  Click the cog in the left-hand bottom side

2. Select Projects
   1. 
3. This will take you to Project categories, Select Projects above this.
   1. 
4. See if your project is listed in the projects.
