Why is delete project in API different from Jira Website

I did a big cleanup in our Jira and "deleted" a lot of projects in the web-view. They are moved to trash, and can be recovered any time.

To save time, I then  moved to the API and deleted projects there. These projects couldn´t be recovered, they also don´t show in trash.

The same naming for two different functionalities here is highly misleading, especially since there is also a "restore" function in the API which is only working for projects that were manually deleted in the website, but not for those deleted via API.

Is there a way to restore the projects deleted via the API?

Also it would be good to have a "trash" API, and change the naming so it is 100% clear.

Best, Gerhard

Hi @Gerhard Grossberger

I think you can raise this up as a suggestion in Jira so the Jira team can evaluate if such feature will be needed in future or if it's something they will consider and put in their backlog. That behaviour is expected until it changes in future, that's how it is works right now.
